The President of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), Duarte da Costa, took part today in the celebrations for the 5th anniversary of CoLAB ForestWISE, a Collaborative Laboratory that promotes integrated forest and fire management, based on (co)research and development activities, knowledge and technology transfer, acting as an agglutinator between industry, companies, academia and public administration, with impacts on the forest and fire domains and on society. The event was also attended by the Secretary of State for Civil Protection, Patrícia Gaspar.
At the same time as the 5th anniversary celebrations, a meeting was held of the Scientific and Business Advisory Council (SBCC), which is made up of members of recognized competence and experience in the areas of activity of this CoLAB, since, although it is not a decision-making body, it is particularly important for the validation, by the advisors, of the fulfilment and mission of ForestWISE and for advising decision-makers on matters relating to forestry and fire in Portugal.
Although the CCCE is not a decision-making body, the ForestWISE CoLAB considers it crucial for the various advisors to validate the fulfillment of its mission and objectives, advising its decision-making bodies on choices through opinions or relevant information in the areas of its competence.
ANEPC has been joining this advisory board since today, following an invitation to its president, due to his recognized experience and knowledge in the areas in which he works, particularly in the prevention and suppression of rural fires.
