The State Secretary for Nature Conservation and Forests, João Paulo Catarino, will visit tomorrow, August 3, the reforestation and desertification project of Moreirolas, in Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo. An investment of about one million euros that aims to reforest Quinta da Moreirola, in Serra da Marofa, in an area of about 290 hectares.
React More – Action project for reforestation and combating desertification of Moreirola started in November 2022 and is the result of a partnership between FlorestGal – a public forest management and development company -, ForestWISE – Collaborative Laboratory for Integrated Forest and Fire Management (CoLAB) and APATA – Association of Traditional and Environmental Agricultural Producers, in the search for “concrete actions aimed at responding to the problem of desertification in the national territory”.
To this purpose, the project foresees a set of activities in an area of approximately 290 ha, in the municipality of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, which aims to achieve objectives underlying the aspects of social, economic and environmental sustainability.
