CoLAB ForestWISE is hosting Mikael Rönnqvist, one of the world’s leading experts on forest logistics and value chains. The visit will continue until the end of the week, with various initiatives being held as part of the activities of the Circular Economy and Value Chains Working Line, namely the transForm Agenda.
One of the initiatives will be the public seminar “Challenges in forest logistics”, organised by CoLAB ForestWISE and the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), which will focus on the current challenges faced by the forestry industry, attempting to find methods and approaches to overcome them.
Held in the UTAD Central Library Auditorium, this seminar focuses on the current challenges facing the forestry industry, such as environmental concerns, labour restrictions, logistics, natural disasters and public interactions, describing methods and approaches to dealing with these challenges, such as value chain management, analysis, optimisation, collaboration, digital twins, automation, big data, educational tools and decision support systems.
Led by Mikael Rönnqvist, this seminar will also aim to present various industrial applications and their impacts, in which analysis methods and data sources are combined to meet the challenges.
