On November 8, the Penafiel City Museum will host several experts who will discuss solutions to reduce extreme rural fires and increase the EU’s capacity to prevent and manage environmental disasters. Porto and Penafiel were the cities chosen by the FIRE-RES consortium.
The second General Meeting of the FIRE-RES consortium will take place this year in Portugal, on November 7, 8 and 9. In a more local approach, CoLAB ForestWISE, one of the consortium’s partners and leader of one of the living lab areas in Portugal, is organizing a technical visit to the Serras do Porto Park and Penafiel on November 8 to see, on site, “good forest protection practices and sustainability strategies in an area of REN networks and infrastructures”, solutions to increase the resilience of the landscape focused on the bioeconomy, at Monte da Pegadinha (Lagares and Figueira Parish Council) operated by Quinta da Aveleda, and biodiversity, at Fonte Arcada, an associated owner of the Vale do Sousa Forestry Association (project partners),” the statement said.
