FIRE-RES: Experts discuss solutions to mitigate rural fires, Ambiente Magazine

Porto and Penafiel were the cities chosen by the FIRE-RES consortium to bring together all the partners and discuss solutions to reduce extreme rural fires and increase the EU’s capacity to prevent and manage environmental disasters.

The second General Meeting of the FIRE-RES consortium will take place this year in Portugal on November 7, 8 and 9. It is expected to discuss the various pillars that support the project, namely the causes and solutions for landscapes resilient to extreme rural fires, risk communication strategies, decision support systems, fuel maps, governance and community involvement for a risk culture. O
The event will be kicked off by Tiago Oliveira, from the Agency for the Integrated Management of Rural Fires, and will be divided into several sessions led by international experts from public, academic and companies.
