REACT MORE – Action Project to Reforest and Combat Desertification in Moreirolas, will be carrying out an awareness-raising activity around the desertification topic, called Itinerant Conference REACT MORE: From Desertification to Enhancing the Forest.

This activity will be attended by several researchers from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, as well as representatives of companies involved in the cork and acorn sector. Also present will be project promoters José Gaspar (President of Florestgal), Carlos Fonseca (CTO of CoLAB ForestWISE), Armando Pacheco (Technical Secretary of APATA) and Carlos Condesso (Mayor of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo).

REACT MORE is mobilizing representatives of the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests, several mayors of the municipality’s local councils, among other entities and organizations committed to studying the phenomenon of desertification, climate change, forest enhancement and the sustainable development of rural areas.

The day will consist of a visit to different sites in the municipality of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, where good and bad forestry practices will be observed that can contribute to mitigating or increasing the effects of desertification. The event will take place in an itinerant format and will culminate in a workshop on the use and valorization of local products associated with the forest in gastronomy.
