CoLAB ForestWISE took part in the 14th edition of ExpoFlorestal, one of the leading events for the Portuguese forest sector, bringing together companies, public authorities, research organisations, associations and professionals involved in forest management, value creation and innovation.

Throughout the three-day exhibition, CoLAB ForestWISE welcomed visitors to its institutional stand, showcasing its work in the fields of forests and wildfires. The stand highlighted a range of solutions, services and projects aimed at promoting more sustainable, resilient and competitive forest management.

Particular emphasis was given to two flagship initiatives: the RN21 Integrated Project, led by CoLAB ForestWISE, and the transForm Agenda, under the technical and scientific coordination of CoLAB ForestWISE. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about some of the key results achieved by these initiatives and their contribution to innovation, digitalisation and the bioeconomy within the forest sector.

In addition to its exhibition stand, CoLAB ForestWISE organised two sessions at the event’s Main Auditorium, bringing together representatives from across the sector to discuss key challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the forest value chain.

The first session, entitled “Digitalisation as a Driver of Efficiency and Competitiveness”, featured Inês Frazão (Fravizel), Luís Fontes (Altri Florestal) and José Luís Carvalho (The Navigator Company). The discussion explored the role of digital technologies in modernising forest operations and enhancing the competitiveness of organisations.

On the second day, the session “Bioeconomy in the Forest Sector: From Resource Valorisation to Value Creation”, moderated by Rogério Rodrigues from CoLAB ForestWISE, brought together Anabela Carvalho (CeNTI), Marco Ribeiro (Resipinus) and Rui Pombo (ATIV / Mota-Engil). The discussion focused on the valorisation of forest resources, the development of new products and the creation of more sustainable value chains.

Participation in ExpoFlorestal provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders across the sector, promote knowledge transfer and encourage discussion on the major challenges facing integrated forest and wildfire management.

CoLAB ForestWISE would like to thank everyone who visited its stand and took part in the sessions organised during the event, contributing to a valuable space for knowledge exchange, collaboration and reflection on the future of Portuguese forests.
