On 23 June, the Nuclisol Jean Piaget School in Vila Real hosted the presentation of the children’s book ‘Resinita e a Magia da Floresta’ (Resin and the Magic of the Forest), developed as part of the RN21 Integrated Project. The action included two educational sessions aimed at pre-school and primary school students, which included interactive moments and practical activities centred on the appreciation of Natural Resin.
The sessions began with a dynamic and approachable explanation of the resin cycle, from its extraction in the pine forest to its transformation into high value-added products, enabling the students to understand the importance of resin as a renewable and strategic resource. Afterwards, the children took part in a practical experience where they were able to handle products derived from Natural Resin.
The reading of the book “Resinita and the Magic of the Forest” was the key moment of the initiative, involving the children through a captivating narrative and appealing illustrations. This moment made it possible to reinforce the knowledge acquired and make participants aware of the importance of preserving natural resources, encouraging the adoption of sustainable behaviour from an early age.
The action helped foster greater environmental awareness among children, highlighting the importance of Natural Resin in the economy and sustainable development, in line with the objectives of the RN21 Project.
