B-READY4FUTURE
The B-READY4FUTURE project, coordinated by CoLAB ForestWISE, aims to implement a National Training Programme, certified, modular and with higher education credits, targeting technicians from Forest Producers’ Organisations (FPO), until September 2025, as part of Investment RE-C08-i05 – MAIS Floresta Programme and under Component C08 – Forests – of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
This programme brings together, in an unprecedented partnership, eight relevant Higher Education Institutions, namely: the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, the University of Aveiro, the University of Coimbra, the Coimbra Agriculture School of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra , the Higher Institute of Agronomy of the University of Lisbon, the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and the University of Évora.
These instituitions will be responsible for providing training in SGIFR (Integrated Rural Fire Management System) and non-SIGFR microcredentials, as well as Certified Training Modules on complementary topics, which are the responsibility of CoLAB ForestWISE.
The objectives of the B-READY4FUTURE project include:
- Anchoring a collaborative process between various Higher Education Institutions and other relevant organisations on the subject of integrated rural fire management;
- Organising and coordinating b-learning training courses, including self-study, mentoring and making the most of trainees' professional experience;
- Strengthen communication dynamics that promote collaboration and sharing between researchers, teachers, technicians and decision-makers, with a view to greater professionalisation and specialisation and the transfer of knowledge between scientific, technical and operational circles;
- To publicise and disseminate the results of the Training Programme among its potential beneficiaries and end-users and the general public.
B-READY4FUTURE will be the stage for an encounter between theory and practice, making the most of professional experience, with the aim of providing trainees with more and better knowledge and tools for integrated rural fire management and maximising the contribution of science to the complex challenges faced by the forest, the territory and society.

The B-READY4FUTURE Project is funded by the Environmental Fund, through C08 – Forests (AAC No. 04/C08-i05.02/2023), from the European Funds allocated to Portugal by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR); under the European Union’s (EU) Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), as part of Next Generation EU for the 2021-2026 period.
